Parenthood was a dream I always envisioned unfolding naturally, but life had other plans. After years of navigating infertility treatments, emotional highs and lows, and countless decisions, I find myself on a path I never imagined: looking for a surrogate, possibly internationally. This is the reality I never thought I’d face, but it’s also the path that brings hope for my family’s future.

Our Journey So Far
When we first started trying to conceive, we thought it would be straightforward. As time passed, the realization that something wasn’t working was both heartbreaking and disorienting. We sought medical help, underwent countless tests, and eventually entered the world of fertility treatments.
IVF became a central part of our story. Over the years, we transferred numerous embryos, each one carrying a flicker of hope. Some cycles were successful in creating life, but heartbreak followed with losses that left a lasting imprint. After nearly a decade, 14 embryos, and four devastating losses, we made the difficult decision to stop trying to carry a pregnancy ourselves.
Considering Surrogacy
Surrogacy wasn’t a path we initially thought we’d take. It felt distant and unfamiliar. But as we reflected on our journey and the deep desire to build a family, it became clear that surrogacy could be the bridge to making our dream a reality.
Why International Surrogacy? International surrogacy became an option due to the limitations and costs associated with surrogacy in our home country. While it comes with its own challenges—legal complexities, cultural differences, and navigating relationships across borders—it also offers opportunities to connect with compassionate individuals who can help make our family complete.
What This Path Means
Choosing surrogacy, especially internationally, means embracing uncertainty and trusting in a process that requires patience, faith, and resilience. It’s about honoring our dream of parenthood while acknowledging that the journey to get there may look different than we once imagined.
This path is also a reminder that parenthood is not about how a child comes into your life, but the love, care, and commitment you bring to raising them. It’s about being open to unexpected possibilities and finding strength in the face of challenges.
Sharing and Connecting
For anyone else considering or navigating surrogacy, know that you are not alone. This path can feel isolating, but there is a community of others who understand the complexities, joys, and struggles it brings. Sharing our story is my way of connecting with others who may find themselves on similar journeys.
What does your path to parenthood look like? I’d love to hear your thoughts and experiences in the comments below. Together, we can create a space of understanding and support for all the varied ways families are made.
